Responsible for the overall management and delivery of carbon capture projects including coordinating and leading development, coordinating interfaces with client, permitting agency and regulatory agencies. Leading members of the project team, financial, commercial and administrative oversight, reporting, risk management, operational success and completion evaluation of the project.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Provide strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, commercial, and managerial leadership for successful implementation of the defined project activities
Work with the Project Assurance Function to ensure that the project is technically sound and consistent with the investor, stakeholder, and Lapis Energy priorities
Guides the US Business leader on project matters
Guide the project through the different phases, from established Feasibility (DG1) to commissioning, start-up, and operations
Ensure alignment of the project with Lapis Energy and the emitter stakeholder including Economic, Technological, Legal Safety, and Environmental matters
Follow company governance process and procedures, establish constructive interactions with functions, contribute to wider project learnings
Create and execute a communication plan, internally (up/down/across) and externally to stakeholders
Recruit and employ/contract other project team members as needed and as agreed with US Lead/Lapis Board
Deliver the project business case and maintain as evergreen by tracking and communicating progress and the actions needed to stay on plan
Understand and manage the cost and schedule facets of a CCS project. Interface with the emitter client and the storage reservoir development team
Define procurement and contracting strategies, to deliver the objectives and targets of the project
Identify risks throughout the scope and the phases of the project, assess, plan responses
Develop and present a complete project management plan including resources, execution, HSE, quality, communications, risk, and interfaces. Manage the project through this PMP
Role to be based in Lapis’ US headquarters in Dallas, TX
Hybrid work environment to be considered for the appropriate candidate
Significant travel is required to Lapis project sites in L48
Experience, skills, and competencies
A minimum of 15 years of work experience in project management
At least 5 years in complex industrial plant and or midstream projects
Strong process and personal safety commitment
Experience with a variety of contract types (EPC, LSTK, etc.)
Experience in both owner and contractor organizations
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering
PE registration is a plus. PMP registration is a plus
Independent and self-motivated
Have a clear understanding of how to deliver through others
Self-contained and motivated with an understanding of how to be successful
Strong leadership skills but must be a team player able to operate either independently or with different teams.
