Job Description
Wolf Point Engineers and Contractors is currently seeking an experienced structural engineer. The candidate will report to the Vice President of Engineering and the Structural Engineering Manager as part of the structural engineering team designing structures for conveyors, towers, bridges, buildings and their associated structures and foundations to support specialized industrial machinery as well as tunnels, vaults and retaining walls. Proficient knowledge of design of structural steel and cast-in-place concrete is a must and experience in designing masonry or marine structures is of benefit.
The candidate will need to be trained to use structural design software such as STAAD and experience with AutoCAD. 3D modeling experience using Revit or similar is expected. The candidate will be responsible for creating, reviewing and approving designs and specifications by in-house engineers and outside contractors and making sure that designs are within budget and in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications. The candidate will also be required to perform design work and write specifications as needed to support project schedules.
Occasional domestic travel for meetings with clients, contractors, suppliers may be required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate design activities with other engineering disciplines
- Perform structural engineering design
- Write structural design reports
- Create 2D cad drawings, sketches and occasionally 3D design models
- Perform design and constructability reviews
- Travel for meetings with customer’s project team if necessary
- Must hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Minimum of 4 years of experience performing structural engineering work
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of programs, primarily Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of 3D design software preferred
- Must have good communication skills and be a team player
- Must have good time-management skills and be able to shift tasks quickly
