Overview
TDOT is seeking an inspiring, transformational technology leader to lead the strategy and operations of the department’s technology environment in direct support of the agency’s mission.
Our ideal candidate is a leader who is strategic, interpersonal, and has a robust business acumen. While it is important that you have a solid grasp of all technical functions, you will need a deep understanding of your customers. The CIO’s primary directive is to develop and execute a department-wide strategy about technology, considering topics from emerging technologies and service desk needs to data integration and IT security.
You will partner with senior leadership across the agency. To do this effectively, you must be persuasive, a leader of change, and develop strong, trusting, collaborative relationships. Like the other executives, the CIO is focused on establishing and working toward a future-focused strategy. This will involve identifying and acquiring the vital people, processes, and technology best suited to improve TDOT’s security posture.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the agency’s Chief Information Officer. This includes, but is not limited to, (1) Collaborating and coordinating with senior leadership and functional offices regarding all technology, (2) Developing and implementing agency transportation technology policies, procedures, and standards, (3) Advising agency senior management on technology needs of the agency for inclusion in planning documents required by law, and (4) Providing a single point of coordination and governance for all technology.
- Oversee the Department’s technology strategy and planning. Ensure that Region and Headquarters' activities associated with technology are governed to promote excellence, innovation, and exceptionalism in transportation.
- Oversee the Department’s Office of Information Technology and its data and information technology resources, as well as Product Development, Data Support and Reporting, GIS and CADD Support (HQ), Traffic Management Centers support, and Asset Management.
- Coordinate with other state agencies, and other state and federal Department of Transportation agencies, with regards to transportation technology.
- Oversee the Department’s information security program.
