The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), invites applications for multiple tenure?track Assistant Professor positions in Civil Engineering with an appointment to begin fall 2022. The department seeks candidates with expertise in all fields of civil engineering but is especially interested in the areas of geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and water resources engineering. Demonstrated laboratory-based teaching and research experience is desirable.

CSUF faculty are committed teacher/scholars who bring research and creative discovery to life for students in classrooms, labs, studios, and individually mentored projects. They teach broadly in the curricula of their departments, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of the person in this position will include the development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline, and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization. This person will also be responsible for producing scholarship / creative work commensurate with the requirements for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department, advise students, serve on committees, and participate in the broader university and disciplinary communities.
* Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
* undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
* ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including laboratory courses
* demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching of a very diverse student population, including first?generation college students
* demonstrated potential for effective integration of technology into instruction
* a strong record of scholarly accomplishments through peer-reviewed publications in the past five years
* high potential to develop and pursue an independent externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and graduate students
* demonstrated laboratory-based research experience and experience working collaboratively with colleagues
* ability and willingness to promote undergraduate and graduate student success through research, mentorship, advising, co?curricular activities, and other high impact practices
*ability to balance excellent teaching, scholarship, and service
* Professional registration as a Civil Engineer or ability and willingness to get Professional Engineering (PE) licensure within five years of appointment
* University-level teaching experience in Civil Engineering
* Demonstrated experience pursuing externally funded research
* Post-baccalaureate professional work experience in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering is the second largest within the College of Engineering and Computer Science and offers a B.S. in Civil Engineering, an M.S. in Civil Engineering, and an online M.S. in Environmental Engineering. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications, and is subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases.
