The Director of Facilities and Roadway, will play a critical role within SRC’s executive team to lead, direct and coordinate Production and Maintenance activities to support the growth, repair and improvement of SRC’s assets and infrastructure. This position will effectively manage and ensure required staffing in Track, Structures, Grounds and Communication & Signals to support SRC’s mission. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of production and maintenance processes through direct supervision of resources to include construction, inspection, and maintenance activities to provide safe and reliable guest-facing and freight operations. In addition, this position has overall responsibility for coordinating the resources which will significantly improve infrastructure investments. This position is responsible to promote and execute on processes and systems that deliver continuous improvement for Safety, Productivity, Financials and Customer Service.
The Director will work collaboratively and in support with other departments to plan and coordinate production and maintenance assets to enhance infrastructure delivery, project management and SRC’s mission.
The Director, working together with key stakeholders such as Guest Services, Mechanical, Transportation, and other departments and colleagues, shall be responsible for the maintenance of SRC’s corporate fixed assets, both short and long-term state of good repair.
Engineering degree or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and highly relevant work experience.
Five+ years of experience in railroad roadway departments exhibiting progressive growth and increased responsibility in providing maintenance and production services.
Thorough knowledge of track and railway structures, or the demonstrated ability to learn.
Extensive experience managing diverse groups of individuals.
Extensive experience showing strong interdepartmental leadership with the ability to identify issues, and develop and implement remedies.
Extensive understanding of business operations and the impact departmental actions have on the corporation and operations.
Experience working with government agencies and organizations.
Proven track record as a Safety Leader and advocate with success driving a safety culture supporting team member engagement and safe behaviors.
Advanced leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate others; effective writing, presentation, interpersonal communication, and conflict resolution.
Proven ability to manage complex contractual relationships.
Proven leader in operations, cost reduction, process improvement, asset utilization, program and organizational management and a demonstrated understanding of railroad operations.
Familiarity with the railroad culture, Federal Railroad Administration and other stakeholders, including state and local governments, and interchanging railroads. Roadway Workers Protection (RWP), Operating Rules; AREMA specifications, Hazard Communication (Right to Know) and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Strong communication skills, including experience in making presentations to executive team, third parties and the Board of Directors.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to articulate complex issues and interact with outside stakeholders as well as all levels of SRC team members.
Comfortable familiarity with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Power Point, and Word).
