The William States Lee College of Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for the Professor of Practice/Director for the Leadership Academy position. This is a non-tenure-track, 12-month full-time position. Responsibilities: The Professor of Practice/Director for the Leadership Academy teaches the introductory engineering and engineering technology courses; engages and motivates students; provides accurate and timely career exploration counseling and academic advising; mentors and participates in recruiting events and summer orientation and registration; leads the Engineering Leadership Academy; supports planning, implementation and assessment of student academic and professional development programs such as the residential Freshman Learning Community, MAPS retention program, ENGAGE ME (multicultural Engineers) and WE (Women Engineers) ENGAGE; participates in activities designed to engage alumni and employers; and assists in writing proposals for external funding. Minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a Master of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management, or an engineering-related degree from an accredited university. Preference will be given to candidates with at least twenty years of professional work experience in an engineering-related position and who are registered professional engineers. Candidates must be a self-starter, able to work independently and with a diverse team; demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills; and multi-task in a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse student population, faculty, alumni, and employers.
