General Summary Eastern Michigan University's Construction Management (CM) Program in the School of Visual and Built Environments, the College of Engineering and Technology, seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2021. The EMU Construction Management Program includes an ACCE-accredited Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, and a Master's degree in Construction Management, as well as a college-wide Ph.D. in Technology with a concentration in Construction Management. The graduate and undergraduate programs focus on the construction of residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, and civil/heavy/highway/infrastructure facilities. The Michigan construction industry actively supports EMU's efforts in curriculum development, student job placement, and accreditation.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in construction management, student advising, active engagement in scholarly activity and research, and providing service to the CM Program, school, college and university. Key services include lab oversight, participate and support the assessment and accreditation activities and process, leading our student competition teams, participation in alumni and professional associations, and events organization such as our annual career fair, golf-outing, and guest speaker series. Potential for program leadership exists. Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Teach contractual load of undergraduate and graduate courses as assigned by the school.
- Active in conducting research and supervision of graduate students.
- Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and profession.
- Assign and submit grades in accordance with established University schedules.
Keep posted office hours during the week, which are scheduled at times most beneficial to students. - Provide academic advising to students.
- Serve on search committees for the hiring new faculty members, departmental committees and other service committees across the university.
- Participate in activities such as student registration, orientation, convocations and commencements.
- Attend and participate in scheduled departmental meetings and functions.
- Engage in pursuits that enable them to remain current in their respective disciplines.
- Engage in pursuits that help further organize and contribute to the growth of the body of knowledge in their respective disciplines and/or to explore interdisciplinary implications. Perform related Departmental duties as required.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between EMU and the EMU Chapter of the American Association of University Professors, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment. |
