The City of Livermore is currently applications for Assistant (Civil) Engineer and Associate Civil Engineer. Both positions are limited duration with funding through June 30, 2021. Additional funding is subject to approval based on the needs of the City of Livermore. Assistant Engineer/Assistant Civil Engineer Under general supervision, an Assistant Engineer/Assistant Civil Engineer performs a variety of professional field and office engineering work in connection with the Design, Development, Transportation, and Construction Sections of the Engineering Division, and other related engineering projects; and performs other duties as assigned. The Assistant Engineer/Assistant Civil Engineer is the journey level classification in the series. Incumbents perform a variety of professional level engineering work requiring independent judgment. The incumbent will work on encroachment permits, capital improvement projects (primarily building, utility, and creek projects), and development projects. The position may be filled at either level depending on the candidate’s possession of EIT Certificate or profession registration. Associate Civil Engineer Under direction, the Associate Civil Engineer is responsible for overseeing and performing a variety of complex professional field and office engineering work in connection with the Design, Development, Special Projects, Transportation and Construction Sections of the Engineering Division and other related engineering projects; may serve as project leader with supervisory responsibility; and performs other duties as assigned. An Associate Civil Engineer oversees consultants and may supervise assistant or junior professional staff, technical staff, and/or lead a design team or an engineering unit.
