To safely, economically and efficiently perform maintenance, modification and required installation of transmission facilities. The Hotstick Journeyman Lineman shall be accountable for parts and material needed, equipment and supplies used in performance of duties.
Maintain as assigned all transmission lines owned or controlled by the Cooperative or interconnecting systems.
Perform, at regular intervals, a preventative maintenance inspection to locate potential problems to insure system integrity.
Maintain accurate logs of all work performed on transmission lines used in the operation of the electric system. Prepare accurate records as required to ensure efficient overall operation, maintenance and inventory requirements.
Maintain good house keeping practices on all equipment to promote safety and better operation of equipment. Properly clean care for, and protect equipment used in the discharge of duties and as assigned by the Cooperative.
Perform switching on the electric system in conformance with established operational procedures as directed.
Perform live line work as assigned.
Assist in the performance of construction and maintenance work as directed.
Act as a technical consultant to Managers and engineering personnel, and assist in the inspections of transmission lines under construction.
Safe and efficient operation of all light and heavy mobile line equipment and vehicles.
Performs other occupational related duties as required, and which qualified to perform safely.
OTHER DUTIES
Cooperate in achieving the objective of eliminating recognized hazards to safety and health; Comply with all Safety and Health rules.
Practice care and protection of clothing and equipment that is furnished by the Cooperative.
Participate in the training and instruction of the safe operation of old and/or new equipment and/or processes.
Maintain work area and plant to standards of sanitation, safety and health in accordance with applicable regulations.
As required, safely perform work for which you are qualified for other related occupational groups.
Ensures the training of personnel assigned under direction.
Completion of a four (4) year apprenticeship program which is recognized by the State Apprenticeship Council and have at least two (2) years experience in hot line work. Extended practical on the job experience may be substituted in lieu of meeting formal apprenticeship training requirements.
Must be prepared to perform maintenance on a call-out basis.
Ability to train and/or orient other personnel in the maintenance of transmission line equipment.
Ability and initiative to carry out work assignments.
Shall possess a valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License. (Class A)
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Live line, barehand maintenance techniques on high voltage transmission lines.
