This position resides in the Boating Facilities Program, whose general purpose is providing grant funding and technical assistance in the form of site assessments, land and water survey, design, engineering, permitting, and planning participation. OSMB works in partnership with boating access providers to provide quality, safe, and accessible boating access for Oregonians. Your New Role – Facilities Designer 2
As a Facilities Designer 2 you will support the lead engineer designing and facilitating capital improvement projects that enhance recreational boating access. You'll do this by applying engineering principles, methods and mathematical calculations to develop final designs for public boating access facilities of every size and scope using AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
You will develop design and bid packages for grant recipients, which includes developing cost estimates of construction and materials costs, advance conceptual design alternatives based on technical reference materials, building codes, vendor specifications, and responding to questions and concerns on projects.
In this role, you will support the lead engineer and senior designers in conducting hydrographic surveys, field surveys to collect topographical and bathymetric data, and research additional data such as water elevations, property ownership for field survey and design work.

What We Are Looking For
Candidates who are the most competitive will have the following:
A skilled professional with two years of engineering experience and a Bachelor's degree in either Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering , Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management Engineering; OR; An equivalent combination of directly related training and experience
Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
Effective communicator that can engage with a diverse customer base, from team members, to stakeholders, and everyone in between
Ability to contribute to an equitable and inclusive work environment where everyone can thrive
Understanding of construction methods
Experience using electronic survey equipment and data collection for topographic or bathymetric surveys
Please Note: Candidates with a professional background or education specifically in Civil Engineering may be given preference.
Underfill Opportunity Information: If the successful applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Engineer 2 classification, but does meet the minimum qualifications for the Facilities Engineer 1 classification, the applicant will be appointed to the classification of Facilities Engineer 1 (Salary Range 27, $ 4216.00 to $ 6157.00). The duration and conditions surrounding the assignment and supervision of work are determined at the time of appointment.
