Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Traffic Engineering Specialist Senior.
The Traffic Engineering Specialist Senior reports to the Town Traffic Engineer. The primary functions of this position are as follows:
Actively participates and accomplishes organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives.
Exhibits a service orientation toward internal and external customers and maintains productive working relationships.
Reviews and analysis of residential, commercial and industrial land development projects by reviewing applications, plans, signing and marking permits and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and ordinances.
Perform detailed plan review and provide comments for new development cases and CIP projects.
Perform traffic engineering studies and recommend solutions.
Conducts field studies in order to determine whether engineering improvements can be made to improve a location. Collects pedestrian, vehicular and directional counts at intersections/roadways and in school areas; measures sight distances at intersections and driveways; makes field observations of traffic patterns, driver and pedestrian behaviors as examples of data collected.
Prepare and issue work orders to implement changes related to traffic control devices, traffic sign and striping.
Reviews temporary traffic control plans and provides details for active construction projects and special events.
Provides customer service and responds to traffic related concerns and issues.
Serve as a point person for neighborhood traffic issues. Communicate with the general public and other Town employees in order to respond to citizens questions and concerns about traffic engineering matters such as general traffic safety, parking prohibitions, signing, striping, school zones, neighborhood traffic and speed mitigation concerns.
Attend meetings related to development projects and special events/projects.
Perform traffic signal and all-way stop condition warrants.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Associate's degree with course work emphasis in civil engineering, traffic engineering.
Three years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic signing/striping, traffic studies, plan reviews, CIP plan reviews, working on development projects from traffic perspective.
Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license.
Knowledge and Skills:
Principles and practices of traffic engineering, MUTCD, AASHTO, Public Works and Engineering Standards and the Land Development Codes.
Effective written and verbal communication including terminology, methods, practices, and techniques used in technical traffic engineering report preparation
Communication, interpersonal skills as applies to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Reviewing and analyzing planning documents for conformance to applicable standards.
Reading, comprehending and/or interpreting written materials and technical drawings.
